Ideal candidates for this type of cosmetic procedure are patients whose face and neck area contains pockets of localized fatty tissue, (i.e. under the chin, the jowls or cheeks). This adipose tissue may have accumulated due to excessive calorie-intake or genetic predisposition. The procedure enables sculpturing and contouring to accent specific areas of the face and neck.  Patients with little subcutaneous fat, or slack facial muscles, or folds of loose skin may not be a good candidate for facial liposuction.  Instead the doctor may recommend procedures such as neck lift (Platysmaplasty), face lift (Rhytidoplasty), eyebrow lift (Blepharoplasty), or brow lift, as a better cosmetic surgery option.

Face Lift and Lipoplasty
Liposuction may also be performed in conjunction with a facelift, to remove small pockets of fat in the nose, around the eyelid, in the cheeks or under the chin.   This combination adds to the overall effect with additional contouring and enhancement of the cheek bones and jawline.

Post-Operative
After the procedure you may experience some minor discomfort, in which, Dr. DiTredici will prescribe some medication to help alleviate.  There is a surgical compression garment that will be provided to you in order to reduce swelling and prevent fluid build-up. It will be placed right after surgery, and you are expected to wear it for at least 2-3 weeks after the procedure.  You are advised to shower the next day.  The doctor will see you within several days after your surgery to check on your progress.  Most of our patients return to work within 1-2 weeks after surgery, but some may need additional time to heal and recuperate.
